I
had the chance to be a part of something HUGE when I worked at the auto shop. I
auditioned for a band called "A Match for the Curious" to be their
drummer, and I got the spot. We had some rehearsals, and it was nice getting to
know my band mates, but there was something that didn't feel quite right. Being
a christian, I knew what was missing/didn't fit. The band didn't agree with my
choice to follow Christ and chastised me for it every time we played so I
decided to leave the band, knowing that God would give me a bigger and better
opportunity later on in life. A few months after I left the band, I ran into
the guitar player for that band and he told me they were playing WARP TOUR!.
Something inside me made my heart and soul drop to the floor. I had passed up
the chance to perform in front of THOUSANDS of people, and a part of me was
regretting my decision. A few minutes later I took that regret back, because I
still knew and believed that God had paved a better path for me in the future.
A
few years passed by, and there was no sign of anything else coming my way,
until I met someone at a birthday party. He and I talked for about an hour or
so, and he mentioned that he was a full time musician/entertainer. At that time
I thought it was a figure of speech, because no one can do music full time
unless he/she has a record deal and is touring right? WRONG! This man travelled
across Ontario playing in different restaurants, pubs, bars, and private
business parties for a living. After he explained what it is he does exactly, I
realized that this might be the door that God was starting to open for me to
walk through. He told me he was part of a team and they were always looking for
talented musicians who are passionate about music, creative with song writing,
and enjoy meeting new people and making them laugh. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I've
been playing music since I 2 years old, I've been leading worship at my home
church for 6 years, I came out with an EP a few years ago, and my ultimate
dream is to be a full-time musician that travels to different venues playing
great music for people. This was it. This was the door that God was wanting me
to walk through.
Almost
a year later, I am proud to say that I am a full-time, professional musician
that travels across Ontario playing great music, and entertaining in different
venues. I have a career that makes me happy. Because a big part of my job now
is meeting new people at the different venues, I can tell you I've met all
kinds of people. From people that make the moulding for toys, to army reserves
that returned safely from Afghanistan, to a business man that travels to and
from Australia to see his family every other week.
I'm
looking forward to a new year with my new career, and I know and trust that God
will do his part in giving me the right tools in making me successful, as long
as I trust Him.

MY
WORK DAY
When
I tell people i'm a full time musician, the next question that is asked is,
"so do you spend a lot of time watching tv, playing xbox, or
sleeping?"
answer,
NO! There's nothing further from the truth. My day consists of phone calls, and
sales trips to the different venues i'm working on playing in. I used to tease
my friends and family for the fact that they spend all day on the phone and are
tired, or don't want to make a phone for the rest of the day, but when I
started making 50-80 phone calls a day, my opinion has changed dramatically.
